400,000 Black Balls Save L.A. Reservoir From Carcinogen
The Department of Water and Power workers in Los Angeles, as well as local officials and community activists opened a white tub from where they poured 400,000 black colored balls into the water. So, the question is: "was this an artwork, some kind of statement or attempt to pollute the water?".
The answer on all fronts is NO - absolutely and categorically NO. In fact, it is an action intended to protect the quality of L.A. drinking water and preventing it from becoming a health hazard. The water needs to be protected and in the shade because of its composition of bromate and chlorine - if exposed to large amounts of sunlight, it could cause a chemical reaction and in high levels can cause cancer.
Last year, abnormally high levels of bromide were signaled, but specialists claimed that danger levels were low because people had to drink the water for a lifetime - even so, the chances of contracting cancer were minimal.
After the discovery of bromate, officials began to search for a method to shade the Ivanhoe and Elysian Reservoirs, but all suggested options would need time and a helluva lot of money. Instead, local government followed the advice of a DWP biologist who came with the idea to use these black plastic balls you see in the pictures.
The reservoirs will be covered by 3 million balls for roughly 4 years.

Incredible and Amazing Pencil Sculptures
A South African-born, Massachusetts-based artist, Jennifer Maestre is known for her unique pencil sculptures. She derives most of her inspiration from the form and texture of the sea urchin. Skillfully crafted from hundreds and hundreds of colored pencils, they're cut into one inch pieces, sharpened and then drilled through to become beads, and then sewn together using a peyote stitch. In each of these incredible works you can feel the approach-avoid paradox from her medium -a clear and surprising achievement (and one of her goals). Meet some of her best artworks below.

Horror - Giant Skeleton Revealed
Giant human skeleton was uncovered in the northen region of India. This region of the Indian desert is called the Empty Quarter and it`s under the jurisdiction of Indian Army.
The skeleton is 80 feet tall and it`s likely to be human. Government of India has secured the whole area and no one is allowed to enter.
The Indian mythology speaks about giants namely Rakshasas, who were created to bring order among us since we were always fighting with each other.
Russian Antarctic Station
Anton Chekalin has visited Russian Antarctic station and has shot there some interesting places.
For example, what you see on the photo above is the Russian water well. The have made a 16 feet (5 meters) deep hole in the ice and there they can get fresh water from somewhere, so when person gets in there he can see sun trying to penetrate through this many feet thick ice.
This is photo from so called "oasis", where the temperature is about 5 degrees higher than around, so it is just a hot place over there. Penguins have a strange ritual - from generation to generation they go on peligrimage - sometimes for as long as two months - so that just to reach this place, stay there for sometimes for just a few hours and go back to their usual places of living.
This truck was abandoned there since the Soviet era of Antarctic exploration.
